Safety Operations Specialist
JOB TITLE: Safety Operations Specialist
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
DEPARTMENT: Operations
DIRECT SUPERVISOR: Administrative Supervisor
POSITIONS MANAGED: None
SALARY RANGE: $30-40 per hour

SUMMARY:
The Safety Operations Specialist will coordinate, under the direction of the Administrative Supervisor, the organization’s safety and programs.
NOTE: Performance reviews are conducted annually upon the anniversary of your hire date. Raises and promotions are based on merit, (job performance, work ethics, attendance, etc.) which will be at the discretion of the Executive and Program Directors. Raises are not guaranteed upon review.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

ï‚· Collaborates with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety and security policies and procedures.

ï‚· Coordinates the safety programs to promote and ensure a safe working environment.

ï‚· Evaluates the effectiveness of safety programs.

ï‚· Reviews current safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates.

ï‚· Submits recommendations for improvements and additions to the safety management program including emergency preparedness, accident prevention, general safety, and risk management.

ï‚· Coordinate with program and/or executive director to suspend any activities that could harm staff or equipment.

ï‚· Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.

ï‚· Shares environmental safety information with appropriate levels in the organization.

ï‚· Coordinates with program director/executive director in preparing and implementing departmental budget.

ï‚· Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.

ï‚· Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Extensive knowledge of emergency preparedness.
-
Extensive knowledge of company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to conduct training and regular drills.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
-
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Must be able to work as a team to complete complicated, time sensitive goals.

Must be free of alcohol and/or drugs on a daily basis.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
-
ï‚· Associate’s degree (minimum) in Environmental Health and Safety, or related field preferred.​

ï‚· At least three years of safety experience preferred.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
-
ï‚· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
-
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
-
Ability to travel throughout facility by foot and vehicle as required to conduct safety inspections.
-
Clean driving record and current license; will be required to travel to remote sites.
