How do I get into Gibson House?If you live in San Bernardino County, and qualify for Medi-Cal, call 800-968-2636. You will be asked to do an assessment in order to be referred to rehab. You can tell them you prefer Gibson House. If you live in Riverside County, and qualify for Medi-Cal, call 800-499-3008. You will be asked to do an assessment in order to be referred to rehab. You can tell them you prefer Gibson House. If you are in jail, talk to your counselor or case manager inside. Tell them you’d like to go to Gibson House, and ask them how you can do it. If you are on parole, contact your PO, and have them send a “1502” form to GEO to obtain a referral. You may reach GEO directly at 909-252-9110. If you are in prison, talk to your counselor or case manager inside the prison to obtain a referral to the GEO program “Direct Placement.” Tell them you’d like to go to Gibson House, and ask them how you can do it. If you do not qualify for Medi-Cal, and want to pay for your treatment, send an email to info@varpinc.org.

How do I get into your Sober Living Program?You must be on parole, OR San Bernardino County AB109 probation, OR you must have completed a rehab program within the past 30 days, OR you must be a Gibson House graduate. If on parole, contact your PO, and have them send a “1502” form to GEO to obtain a referral. You may reach GEO directly at 909-252-9110. If in prison, talk to your counselor or case manager inside regarding direct placement through the GEO Program for RRH transitional housing/sober living. Tell them you’re interested in our sober living, and ask them how you can get in. You may reach GEO directly at 909-252-9110. If on San Bernardino County AB109 probation, contact your PO, and ask them for a referral for transitional housing through the San Bernardino County DRC. Phone: 909-382-7800 or 909-382-7801. How do I get into Outpatient Treatment?You must be on parole. Contact your PO, and have them send a “1502” form to GEO to obtain a referral. You may reach GEO directly at 909-252-9110. If you are in custody, talk to your counselor or case manager inside. Tell them you’d like to go to enroll in our outpatient program, and ask them how you can do it. How do I pay for treament?If you qualify for Medi-Cal, then Medi-Cal will pay for your treatment. If you are on parole, then parole may pay. Contact your PO and have them contact GEO. If you want to pay your own way, please send an email to info@varpinc.org

Do you take my insurance?We only accept Medi-Cal insurance (if you have Medi-Cal, your provider may be IEHP, Kaiser, etc.).

How long is the program?The standard program is 90 days, although some complete their program sooner, and some opt to stay longer. The length of your program is determined by you and your personal case manager.

Do you have any open beds?San Bernardino and Riverside County substance abuse departments manage our waiting lists. Please call them, do a referral, and ask how long the wait is. See "How do I get into Gibson House?" Contact us HERE.

What can I bring to treatment?Bring about 2 weeks worth of clothing. We have laundry facilities. You may bring bedding/towels/hygeine items, or we will provide them. You may bring reading material. hair clippers, and nail clippers. Do not bring any food, drink, or snacks. We will provide these. No cologne or mouthwash containing alcohol. No pornography, weapons, phones, tablets, computers, radios. If you bring any disallowed items, these items will be stored for you and returned when you leave.

Can my family visit me in treatment?Yes. Due to COVID-19, in-person visits may be subject to some restrictions. Generally, the first week of treatment is very intense, but family may arrange to visit as soon as the following weekend.

What about court-ordered visitation with my children?You will be able to participate in visitation. We will provide transportation, or provide you with a nice, private, comfortable setting at our facility, in which to conduct your visits.

Can I go to the doctor or to court while at Gibson House?You may leave for urgent medical appointments and court dates.

Where is Gibson House?Gibson House for Men is at 1100 North D Street, San Bernardino. Gibson House for Women is at 1135 North D Street. Metcalf Recovery Ranch is at 9826 18th Street, Metcalf.

What if I test positive for drugs or alcohol when I am at Gibson House?You may not enter the program if you test positive for alcohol, opiates, or benzos. You may not enter the program if you are under the influence of any substance. If you test positive, but are not under the influence, you may enter the program. If you use drugs or alcohol while in the program, you may be subject to immediate discharge.

Can I have my phone/laptop/tablet/radio while at Gibson House?You cannot have a phone/laptop/tablet/radio at Gibson House. You will have access to a house phone, and you may use our computers for important issues. No social media access.

Can I make a donation?For cash donations please make your check payable to VARP, Inc., and mail it to us at 1100 North D Street, San Bernardino, CA 92410. You may also donate via credit or debit card via our website. Just click on the donate button on the menu bar. You can choose to make a one time donation or donate at regular intervals. You can also donate any amount you'd like and for whichever program you choose. We appreciate any support you can offer as improvements to our facilities, activities, and events are donated solely through contributions given the nature of our funding through public sources.
